10"x8" pastel painting on Pastel Premier paper on a Dakota Artboard.  I painted the Smithville Mansion in NJ on a gloomy January day in January when it was in the 30's.  I was all bundled up though and having a wonderful time.  I was lazy and brought all of my pastels, rather than bring my Heilman box with select pastels.  I wanted loads of choice that day.  Pastels range from hard to buttery soft.  The soft ones go one at later stages.  They are like the icing.  
The Painting has been lightly sprayed with Latour Fixatif to secure the pastels.
