I painted this painting in plein air on an early Saturday morning in about 30 degree weather and was cold!! Was wonderful to see the true colors of the sunrise in this dramatic sky.  Photographs always seem to alter the colors and darken skies.  When I can, I prefer to paint from life to capture the mood, the weather, the light as it truly is.
